The International Breastfeeding Symbol

Did you know that there is an international Breastfeeding symbol?

Have you ever seen this symbol in a public place?
We haven't! but would certainly like to see it proudly displayed everywhere we go.

In Miami, where Best Baby Organics is based, there are not many breastfeeding friendly places. If a mom needs to breastfeed, she has a few options: she can either go hide with her baby in a smelly bathroom, or try to find a quiet place to cover herself up and hope not to offend anyone. Breastfeeding in a Miami public place can be quite stressful for mom and baby. Where is the symbol we ask?

The symbol exists and it has already been spotted in many places around the world. It all started as a Mothering contest initiative to create public awareness and to encourage breastfeeding. The winning image was designed by Matt Daigle of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Matt has made this design available to everyone and it is copyright free. THANKS FOR YOUR CREATIVITY AND GENEROSITY MATT!!!

We love this symbol! and wish more shopping centers, restaurants, and other public places in Miami and around the country would create areas for mothers to breastfeed their babies or simply make their places more breastfeeding friendly, so that moms don't need to stress when feeding time comes around.

We heard from a Norwegian mom, that in Norway they even have "breastfeeding cafes" where moms can go and hangout with their other mom friends, while breastfeeding their babies. How cool is that? Now, why can't we have something like that in Miami?
