As if we needed yet another good reason to nurse our babies, a new study shows that breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer by 59% in women with a family history of the disease.
Alison Stuebe, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and lead author of the study, says "This is good news for women with a family history of breast cancer." The study was published in the Aug. 10 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine.
